January is always a time for putting the plans into place for the year ahead, booking exhibitions, planning ad campaigns, even thinking about implementing new software or systems. January 2019 is no different, or is it?
Deal or no deal...
Ok so let's get the elephant in the room out in the open - Brexit.
A bit like Christmas, we knew this date was coming, but not perhaps just how uncertain the next few months would be. At such a critical time for the country, it's important not to lose focus on the business ahead. Those plans still need to be carried out and budgets still need to be allocated. It's common place that when things become uncertain, everything seems to stop. Sales slow and marketing budgets can dry up. However, one of the most important things any business can do when times are difficult is to carry on investing in marketing and even, if possible, increase that spending.
It's all about being seen.
If your competitors are attending less events or appearing in less publications and directories, this is the time to capitalise. You'll have more opportunities to be seen and remembered when those all important orders are being placed.
It may be an uncertain time for the UK, but there will be a future after 29th March. We just don't know what it looks like yet.
